Real Talk - You're An Original

"I'll never be like her." These are the 4 words I remember going through my head the first time I went to a youth group at age 13. I looked around the room & saw several girls that to me, looked like models. Their hair looked perfect, they were poised, and had many friends. They seemed to have it all together.  It wasn't until I was in high school that I realized how unrealistic my view was. At the time tough, it seemed completely legitimate.  If you're reading this & out of school, I'm sure you can relate to what I meant when I said my view was unrealistic. However, if you're younger than you may be dealing with some of these same feelings, too!  Yes, I thought I would never be like her. There is truth in that statement. I never did everything like her. That's because I'm not her and I'm proud of that. Because nobody else can ever be me.  However, I did change in those growing seasons & am proud to say that I lear

My Favorite Things

I promised there would be more about me coming. So, here it is.  My favorite things: Music. Specifically Jamie Grace, Hannah Kerr, Dan Bremnes, & Sarah Reeves to name a few. (And I dabble in it a little myself!) Basically anything with sparkle. On any given day I'm wearing at least one thing sparkly!   Podcasts! Lately I can't get enough of them! They're a part of my morning routine now 🙂 Boots. Some girls have a thing for all shoes, but I can't get enough of boots. (Even in warm weather) ☀️ Ice cream & pizza are my go to foods when it's movie night! I adore mint chocolate chip. I don't like "fancy" pizza. Plain cheese or sausage are my favorites!

Interview - Liza Proch

Liza Proch, an artist from Texas, graciously gave her time to tell us more about her art, faith, & family.  What got you started in art?  I’ve loved art ever since I was little!  My dad is an amazing artist, so being able to learn from him has been a huge gift. I’ve always loved experimenting with new techniques of painting, drawing, and lettering. Who inspires you to keep going through with your dreams on the tough days?  My parents and siblings are the best cheerleaders. It’s so neat to be able to encourage each other in our creative pursuits, and inspire each other to push through the hard times! You're known for your art, but recently got started with "Willow City." Can you tell us more about it?  Several years ago my three brothers and I realized we loved playing music together, and wanted to share that love with the world. We started Willow City, a pop-folk band, and have loved getting to tour around the U.S. sharing songs and the stories b

Real Talk - Trust

When I was little, I hated going down the slide at the park. I was so scared that I would scream when my parents would try & put me on one. Finally, I decided to try it on my own. I LOVED it. I cried when they told me it was time for us to leave the park. By the time I actually had the courage to give it a try, I was only able to go down it 2 or 3 times.  This reminds me of how we tend to treat God at times. We say we trust Him & believe that everything is in our best interest, but when something bad does happen we can blame Him, instead of trusting that He knows what will happen & can help us get through it.
