Interview - Liza Proch

Liza Proch, an artist from Texas, graciously gave her time to tell us more about her art, faith, & family.

What got you started in art?

I’ve loved art ever since I was little!  My dad is an amazing artist, so being able to learn from him has been a huge gift. I’ve always loved experimenting with new techniques of painting, drawing, and lettering.

Who inspires you to keep going through with your dreams on the tough days?

My parents and siblings are the best cheerleaders. It’s so neat to be able to encourage each other in our creative pursuits, and inspire each other to push through the hard times!

You're known for your art, but recently got started with "Willow City." Can you tell us more about it?

Several years ago my three brothers and I realized we loved playing music together, and wanted to share that love with the world. We started Willow City, a pop-folk band, and have loved getting to tour around the U.S. sharing songs and the stories behind them!

What are 3 random facts that people probably don't know about you?

I’m terrified of armadillos (An armored-rodent type animal that plagues Texas. Haha)
I’ve always been really interested in going to Uganda.
I’ve always wanted a baby deer as a pet.

What do you want people to go away with after reading/hearing your content?

Inspiration. Each of us has unique qualities, and I think it’s so easy to get off track by comparing ourselves to others. I want to inspire others to use their gifts to glorify our Creator.
What's your favorite Bible verse & why?
Matthew 11:28-30: these verse are amazing! Such an incredible reminder from Jesus that, although life won’t always be easy, He promises to walk with us, teach us, guide us, carry us. And that’s with every moment of up-hill climbing!

Favorite color?

Blush!

Favorite restaurant?

Torchy’s Tacos!

A special thanks to Liza for her time & energy put into these questions!

Life Lessons from Coffee Chats

Today I had an unnamed person (we’ll call Jane) ask me if I wanted coffee. At first, I kindly declined. A little while later she asked me a 2nd time. However, this time I could tell she wanted more than me to just have a cup of coffee. ☕️  She wanted me to spend the time with her it took to drink that cup of coffee to talk with me. To ask me questions, learn about something she had been wondering about and gain better insight into a particular situation.  I think that’s why in the American culture when someone asks us to coffee, it’s either a quick yes or no answer because maybe we don’t want to spend time asking deeper questions of someone.  Our motivations might be different in each scenario but what if we said yes to coffee more often even if it’s not convenient for us? We might have assumptions or fears surrounding the other person’s motives. However, there’s no better way to gain clarity about them than asking vs assuming.  Trust me. It’s wayyyy easier said than done but in the l

Real Talk - Honor

Honor: Verb: regard with great respect  To be honest, I wasn’t ready sure what to write about this week. Everyone is talking about New Years resolutions, goals they’re setting, & what they want to do with the time they have this year.  Then it got me to thinking. What if we make resolutions to leave others better off than we find them? If they mistreat us, let’s teach them how to treat us right. If they do good to us, let’s applaud them.  It won’t be easy, but if we do it together & give it our best, we all will be better for it.  Reminder:  9  Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast  to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor . Romans 2:9-10 ESV Challenge:  Choose 1 person this week to honor.
