A Year of Learning

2021 has been a year of learning for me. Learning to trust, learning to let go, learning how to grieve with Christ’s hope and learning how to have grace on myself while walking through these journeys.

It’s taught me that for the Christian, things seem to make the most sense when they don’t make sense to others. Because that’s when I lean on Christ more. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t be able to cope. In fact, none of us can without Christ— He created us to need Him daily.

So whatever you’re facing, remember first and foremost that if Christ is in your corner you will make it through. I know people say He doesn’t give us more than we can handle, but the truth is He gives us what we can handle with His grace & mercy.

I’m so thankful for friends, family and a church that has been praying for us through all of this. Your prayers & support mean more than you know!

Life Lessons from Coffee Chats

Today I had an unnamed person (we’ll call Jane) ask me if I wanted coffee. At first, I kindly declined. A little while later she asked me a 2nd time. However, this time I could tell she wanted more than me to just have a cup of coffee. ☕️ She wanted me to spend the time with her it took to drink that cup of coffee to talk with me. To ask me questions, learn about something she had been wondering about and gain better insight into a particular situation. I think that’s why in the American culture when someone asks us to coffee, it’s either a quick yes or no answer because maybe we don’t want to spend time asking deeper questions of someone. Our motivations might be different in each scenario but what if we said yes to coffee more often even if it’s not convenient for us? We might have assumptions or fears surrounding the other person’s motives. However, there’s no better way to gain clarity about them than asking vs assuming. Trust me. Real Talk - Honor

Honor: Verb: regard with great respect To be honest, I wasn’t ready sure what to write about this week. Everyone is talking about New Years resolutions, goals they’re setting, & what they want to do with the time they have this year. Then it got me to thinking. What if we make resolutions to leave others better off than we find them? If they mistreat us, let’s teach them how to treat us right. If they do good to us, let’s applaud them. It won’t be easy, but if we do it together & give it our best, we all will be better for it. Reminder: 9 Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor . Romans 2:9-10 ESV Challenge: Choose 1 person this week to honor.
