How The Blog Got Started

Since I’m a little under the weather today, instead of a typical blog post, I wanted to let you know how @wordsofabelle got started.

♥️ I started it as a creative outlet in 2018. I wasn’t sure how many people would be reached by it, but I wasn’t concerned with numbers. I wanted to write about things that were on my heart & hoped other people would relate, too.

♥️ it’s turned into something a lot bigger than I ever thought it may have in its beginnings. I hope it will continue to help me to connect with people on a deeper level in #2020.

♥️ R E A S O N

There have been many times I’ve felt completely uninspired or unmotivated. But I truly believe I’ve been inspired by God to start this to share my story with others who can benefit from it.

♥️ F U T U R E

Although I don’t know what’s in store for this in 2020, I hope it continues to reach new lives in new ways.

Life Lessons from Coffee Chats

Today I had an unnamed person (we’ll call Jane) ask me if I wanted coffee. At first, I kindly declined. A little while later she asked me a 2nd time. However, this time I could tell she wanted more than me to just have a cup of coffee. ☕️ She wanted me to spend the time with her it took to drink that cup of coffee to talk with me. To ask me questions, learn about something she had been wondering about and gain better insight into a particular situation. I think that’s why in the American culture when someone asks us to coffee, it’s either a quick yes or no answer because maybe we don’t want to spend time asking deeper questions of someone. Our motivations might be different in each scenario but what if we said yes to coffee more often even if it’s not convenient for us? We might have assumptions or fears surrounding the other person’s motives. However, there’s no better way to gain clarity about them than asking vs assuming. Trust me. It’s wayyyy easier said tha...

Saturday Thoughts 💭

It’s been awhile since I’ve shared my thoughts— I wanted to share something that’s been showing up everywhere for me lately! Proverbs 16:9 ESV 9 The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. I’ve been thinking on this verse A LOT. We can only have steps established by the Lord if we’re willing to submit to His plans. Being willing is defined as ready, eager, or prepared to do something. 🙌🏻 We’re never forced to submit to His plan. (I know it sounds cliché) if we were forced into it, then we wouldn’t have a choice either way—we’d be living miserable lives. I know if I were forced to love my neighbor as myself it wouldn’t be sincere love. It’s something I have to work at. Not something that comes naturally. We have to choose a relationship with Him before we can see the fruits of established steps by the Lord. ~K

I realized recently that some of you have probably seen this link being shared or gotten an invite to like this page, but might not know exactly what it is. In short, it’s the start of my new business. I graduated in December with a degree in business. I didn’t know what I was going to do with my degree when I was in school. I didn’t have any particular plans. I just knew I wanted to use the skills I’d obtained, as well as do something I was passionate about. I slowly started looking for a job in mid January, while at the same time I kept an idea in the back of my mind. “What if I opened a business?” I knew it couldn’t be just anything, though. After a lot of prayer, lots of research, and encouragement from my family, I finally decided to go for it. I got what I needed to start the business the end of January.
