Dear Happy Girl

To all those out there who feel like they need to have it all together.

Dear Happy Girl,

It seems like everything is different right now. At least, different than your “typical“ norm. Everything has changed in an instant for you.

I think I speak for most of us when I say that it’s easy to get anxious about what’s next. I came across this verse today & it brought some things to mind.

“do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7ESV

Giving us feelings wasn’t an afterthought for God. In fact, Jesus himself had them. It’s what we do with each one that’s important. When it comes down to it, we have 2 choices about how to handle them

  • We can process them with those we trust, though prayer & Bible study, giving each concern to God. Thus, letting truth guide our actions.
Or
  • We can let our feelings rule our actions.

Following Jesus doesn’t mean you and I are robots. We have to consciously make the choice to either let truth or fear guide our steps.

So, Happy Girl, you don’t have to have it all together. You can be sad that those plans were cancelled.

You can be sad you can’t see your church family.

You can be sad celebrating you looks a little different than you originally planned this year.

Happy Girl. It will get better.

Learning To Embrace The Crazy

Have you ever had a bad day? Not just any bad day, but the kind that could be turned into a movie?  It might have gone something like this: after waking up late because your alarm didn’t go off, you didn’t have time to eat breakfast. So, you make your favorite quick breakfast drink. On your way to work you spilled your drink while checking your email & walking down the hallway.  Then, you have a meeting but didn’t have time to go home & change. So, while attending the meeting you try to send a quick text to someone to bring you a change of clothes fast, because you need to present at another meeting. But your friend can’t help ya out. So, you head to the ladies room to clean up.  As you try to clean up, you end up getting little bits of paper towel all over yourself & it looks much worse. That’s not all, though. You decide that since your outfit is at it’s worst, you could at least freshen up your makeup. As you get the makeup from your purse, the unthinkable ...

By Faith

These 2 words have been a reoccurring theme In my life lately. Remembering how important it is to live by FAITH & not by sight is definitely more easier said than done. However, when urs done right amazing things happen!  I was recently reading Not Part of the Plan by @krstnclark + & @bethany.beal. One of the chapters focuses on the importance & results that the Bible gives to us about living by faith.  Hebrews 11 is such an encouraging chapter. It never says by feeling Noah built the ark or by feeling Moses’ parents hid him for three months after he was born. It focus on the fact that those people didn’t always know what the end result would be. However they did take steps of faith.  My Saturday thoughts. 💭
