Share the Cause Challenge!

Challenge issued! As I’ve been thinking & praying about how to spread the word, I’ve decided to challenge you to a 24 hr share the cause! (I hope it’s not a coined term, I just came up with it) 😉.

Here’s how it works:

Click the link st the bottom and under “share” copy the fundraiser link. Then, past it in your bio for 24hrs.

Lastly, write a post telling people about the cause & share it! Let’s show them some love ♥️

Below I’m pasting the fundraiser details so you can read them here as well.

Hi, my name is Josh Barker. I am George Hatcher's brother-in-law. I wanted to take a moment to share with you of a need that I have been made aware of. I have watched my brother go through cancer, chemo/radiation all while his daughter Angela has had rare heart condition that had required multiple heart surgeries. Unfortunately, she lost her battle with this condition back in April of 2021. As you can imagine all of this has taken a large toll on them financially.

Although they hadn't asked for one thing, I had found out that George and his wife Jen have a financial debt that hasn't let them deal with everything they need to. However, I was able to confirm they would greatly appreciate your support in aiding in medical expenses and expenditures. George is currently undergoing cancer treatment as well as an six week antibiotic treatment. We (his family) hope that the money raised will help him to be able continue focusing on his health while not being concerned with medical expenses. In addition to this, he and his family are wishing to put some of the money raised towards his daughter’s funeral expenses.

While this is never something easy to ask, we hope you will consider donating. If you can’t donate but wish to help please consider spreading the word, and especially please pray for them through this trying time.

We all would like to say thank you in advance for your support.

Real Talk - Honor

Honor: Verb: regard with great respect  To be honest, I wasn’t ready sure what to write about this week. Everyone is talking about New Years resolutions, goals they’re setting, & what they want to do with the time they have this year.  Then it got me to thinking. What if we make resolutions to leave others better off than we find them? If they mistreat us, let’s teach them how to treat us right. If they do good to us, let’s applaud them.  It won’t be easy, but if we do it together & give it our best, we all will be better for it.  Reminder:  9  Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast  to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor . Romans 2:9-10 ESV Challenge:  Choose 1 person this week to honor.

Life Lessons from Coffee Chats

Today I had an unnamed person (we’ll call Jane) ask me if I wanted coffee. At first, I kindly declined. A little while later she asked me a 2nd time. However, this time I could tell she wanted more than me to just have a cup of coffee. ☕️  She wanted me to spend the time with her it took to drink that cup of coffee to talk with me. To ask me questions, learn about something she had been wondering about and gain better insight into a particular situation.  I think that’s why in the American culture when someone asks us to coffee, it’s either a quick yes or no answer because maybe we don’t want to spend time asking deeper questions of someone.  Our motivations might be different in each scenario but what if we said yes to coffee more often even if it’s not convenient for us? We might have assumptions or fears surrounding the other person’s motives. However, there’s no better way to gain clarity about them than asking vs assuming.  Trust me. It’s wayyyy easier said tha...

Interview - Cristabelle Braden

Brain injury survivor Cristabelle Braden talks hop, inspiration, & everyday life!  About Cristabelle After my brain injury I basically had to re-learn almost everything - taking a shower, getting myself dressed, dealing with short-term memory loss, muscle atrophy, losing my vocabulary & conversation skills..    just to name a few. Honestly the only thing that kept me going was my faith in God, reminding myself that He has a plan, He loves me, and that He’s working even when I can’t see it. And now, He has healed me beyond any doctors or anyone’s expectations! They didn’t think I’d even be able to finish high school, but now I’ve graduated college! So when I have tough days I just remind myself that God is truly a God of miracles… that He is my strength, I can depend on Him in all of my weakest moments. What got you started in music? I’ve been singing since I was a little kid, but I started writing music after my brain injury! It was through t...
