Saturday Thoughts šŸ’

Itā€™s been awhile since Iā€™ve shared my thoughtsā€”

I wanted to share something thatā€™s been showing up everywhere for me lately!

Proverbs 16:9 ESV

The heart of man plans his way,  but the Lord establishes his steps.

Iā€™ve been thinking on this verse A LOT. We can only have steps established by the Lord if weā€™re willing to submit to His plans.

Being willing is defined as ready, eager, or prepared to do something. šŸ™ŒšŸ»

Weā€™re never forced to submit to His plan. (I know it sounds clichĆ©) if we were forced into it, then we wouldnā€™t have a choice either wayā€”weā€™d be living miserable lives.

I know if I were forced to love my neighbor as myself it wouldnā€™t be sincere love. Itā€™s something I have to work at. Not something that comes naturally.

We have to choose a relationship with Him before we can see the fruits of established steps by the Lord.

Life Lessons from Coffee Chats

Today I had an unnamed person (weā€™ll call Jane) ask me if I wanted coffee. At first, I kindly declined. A little while later she asked me a 2nd time. However, this time I could tell she wanted more than me to just have a cup of coffee. ā˜•ļø  She wanted me to spend the time with her it took to drink that cup of coffee to talk with me. To ask me questions, learn about something she had been wondering about and gain better insight into a particular situation.  I think thatā€™s why in the American culture when someone asks us to coffee, itā€™s either a quick yes or no answer because maybe we donā€™t want to spend time asking deeper questions of someone.  Our motivations might be different in each scenario but what if we said yes to coffee more often even if itā€™s not convenient for us? We might have assumptions or fears surrounding the other personā€™s motives. However, thereā€™s no better way to gain clarity about them than asking vs assuming.  Trust me. Itā€™s wayyyy easier said tha...

Real Talk - Honor

Honor: Verb: regard with great respect  To be honest, I wasnā€™t ready sure what to write about this week. Everyone is talking about New Years resolutions, goals theyā€™re setting, & what they want to do with the time they have this year.  Then it got me to thinking. What if we make resolutions to leave others better off than we find them? If they mistreat us, letā€™s teach them how to treat us right. If they do good to us, letā€™s applaud them.  It wonā€™t be easy, but if we do it together & give it our best, we all will be better for it.  Reminder:  9  Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast  to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor . Romans 2:9-10 ESV Challenge:  Choose 1 person this week to honor.

Interview - Cristabelle Braden

Brain injury survivor Cristabelle Braden talks hop, inspiration, & everyday life!  About Cristabelle After my brain injury I basically had to re-learn almost everything - taking a shower, getting myself dressed, dealing with short-term memory loss, muscle atrophy, losing my vocabulary & conversation skills..    just to name a few. Honestly the only thing that kept me going was my faith in God, reminding myself that He has a plan, He loves me, and that Heā€™s working even when I canā€™t see it. And now, He has healed me beyond any doctors or anyoneā€™s expectations! They didnā€™t think Iā€™d even be able to finish high school, but now Iā€™ve graduated college! So when I have tough days I just remind myself that God is truly a God of miraclesā€¦ that He is my strength, I can depend on Him in all of my weakest moments. What got you started in music? Iā€™ve been singing since I was a little kid, but I started writing music after my brain injury! It was through t...
